Free Language Courses
Learn Norwegian and other languages for free.
At Caritas Stavanger, we believe that language is the key to integration and to accessing new opportunities. That is why we offer free language courses designed to help you communicate, build relationships and settle into life in Norway.
New courses usually start at the beginning of September and January.
Registration takes place via our social media our channels —Facebook and Instagram— where we post registration links and the necessary information. Announcements are usually made in late August and December. As all our activities rely on volunteers, the courses available may vary each term.
Our courses
Our courses are informal and do not lead to official certification. They are run by dedicated volunteers who have been trained and generously share their time and knowledge. We are deeply grateful for their commitment, which enables many people in our community to learn, grow and feel included.
If we have places available outside the usual registration periods, we will announce them on our social media. Due to a lack of resources, we do not accept students outside these periods and we do not have waiting lists. We encourage you to follow us to stay up to date.

Every year, hundreds of immigrants and refugees arrive in Stavanger looking for a new beginning, and language is often their biggest barrier. By teaching basic Norwegian, you can make a lasting impact in someone’s journey to integrate, connect, and build a better life.
You don’t need to be a professional teacher. What matters most is your patience, your willingness to share, and your desire to help others feel welcome in Norway.
